Hugo Koblet on the Col d’Izoard Tour de France, 1951 Stage 20, Gap to Briancon Hugo Koblet was at the top of his form and dominated the 1951 Tour. He won the overall race by over twenty minutes, along with taking 5 stage victories. On this day in the Alps, the ailing Coppi had attacked and was ahead by nine minutes. Koblet easily closed the gap and finished 3rd for the stage. Each image in the Vintage Print Series has been reproduced from an original photographic print or negative in The Horton Collection archives. Each has been carefully restored to remove dust, water stains, fingerprints, or other wear and tear. Lithograph printing was done by AMP Printing in Dublin, California on Daiei TopKote 111 pound acid-free archival quality stock using a Heidelberg press.
